Your Captain

A lifetime of coastlines — and one home port.

I grew up a passionate fisherman and have taken that passion all over the Southeast and Southern United States coastal waters. I've been blessed to fish from the coastlines of South Carolina, Tybee Island GA, St. Augustine FL, the Florida Keys, Flamingo Bay FL, Port O'Connor TX, Delacroix LA and many other points.

My greatest enjoyment is fishing from my home port in the great state of Mississippi. I hope my years of hard work and investment in our great saltwater fisheries can be used to your advantage.

Yours truly,
Captain Mc

Charters

Trips that fit just about any situation.

Marsh and Cat Island trips run 4 or 8 hours, the Chandeleurs run as a dedicated day trip, and variations are available on request. Rates, deposits and policies live on the charters page.

4 Hours · Half Day

Marsh & Cat Island

The minimum charter and the most popular way to start. Bay St. Louis, Cat Island and the near marsh, with all bait, tackle and ice aboard. Filleting on request.

8 Hours · Full Day

Marsh & Cat Island

Enough day to work Cat Island, the Biloxi Marsh and the deep interior — room to run and reset if the bite moves, and the best shot at a trophy inshore day.

Day Trip · Chandeleurs Only

The Chandeleur Islands

A dedicated run out to Free Mason and Curlew for wade, surf and cast fishing. Weather dependent, and worth every mile when the day lines up.

Coming Soon · Offshore

We're heading for the blue water.

South Coast is adding offshore dates to the schedule. Same captain, same standard — a longer run, heavier tackle and a different class of fish on the end of the line.

Offshore

Tuna

The one everybody comes for. Long runs, heavy drag and a fight that will tell you exactly how strong your arms are.

Offshore

Mahi

Bright, fast and about as fun as fishing gets. They show up around weed lines and structure, and they do not come quietly.

Offshore

Wahoo

The fastest thing you will hook out here. One strike and a screaming reel is the whole reason people run offshore.

Dates and pricing are being finalized. Overnight trips are coming with them. Call Captain Mc at 601.757.8598 or send a request and we will put you on the list for the first offshore dates released.

Know Before You Go

What's aboard, and what's on you.

We bring

  • All bait and tackle, rods and reels
  • Ice — including ice to get your catch home safely
  • Every safety requirement, current and inspected
  • Filleting service on request
  • Photos and measurements for a Gray Taxidermy mount, no harvest required

You bring

  • Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks
  • White non-marking sole footwear — no boots, no crocs
  • Polarized eyewear (recommended)
  • Lotion sunscreen — no sprays
  • Seasonal clothing, rain gear and insect repellent

Fillet service on request. Ask and we will clean and fillet your catch, then furnish ice so it gets home safely. It is customary to tip the Captain as a gesture for that service — always appreciated, never expected.

Serving our service personnel. Active or retired law enforcement, military, firefighters and first responders — contact the Captain for special discounted pricing. South Coast honors our service personnel year-round.

What We Chase

The inshore roster.

Six fish do most of the work in these waters. What ends up on the end of your line depends on the season, the tide and where the Captain decides to start the day.

01

Redfish

Marsh & islands

The reason most people book. Bronze, bull-headed and willing to eat in six inches of water — and still pulling long after you want it to stop.

02

Speckled Trout

Inshore staple

The bread and butter of the Mississippi Sound. Schooled up over grass and shell, and about as good as it gets on the table.

03

Black Drum

Bottom bruiser

The redfish's heavier cousin. No speed to speak of — just a slow, immovable weight that takes its time coming up.

04

Sheepshead

Structure fish

Pilings, rocks and rigs. Famous for stealing bait, and worth every bit of the trouble once you learn to feel the bite.

05

Flounder

Bottom hugger

Buried flat in the sand waiting on something to swim past. Subtle to hook, and hard to beat in a skillet.

06

Blacktip Shark

Hard pull

When the water warms up they show up, and there is nothing else inshore that will empty a reel quite as fast.

Gray Taxidermy

Put it on the wall. Put it back in the water.

Captain Mc is a Gray Taxidermy representative, so the fish of your life does not have to be a fish you keep.

Hook something worth mounting and we will take the photographs and the measurements right there on the deck — length, girth and the detail the shop needs. Gray builds the reproduction from that. Nothing has to be harvested, and your fish swims off while the mount is still being made.

Tell the Captain before or during your trip that you may want a mount and he will handle it from the boat — measurements, photos and the order itself.
